In the book, Chamberlain and his battalion fall in up the pinch of the heart and soul, and are defending the confederation from any possible attacks by the Confederates. His courage and purpose making allowed for the tactical advantages of the Union to defeat the Confederates. As the Union was forced u phill, they started running out of ammunition and supplies.
